Alex Showdra performs regularly in Southern Ontario as a soloist, bandleader, and sideman in projects ranging from jazz combos, musicals, rock bands, chamber music, and his own singer-songwriter material.
Fluent in many styles, Showdra can adapt to suit the needs of his clients. In the jazz world, Showdra leads the Bel Air Jazz Combo. He also plays classical repertoire as a soloist or in various chamber ensembles. In the pop and rock scene, Showdra performs solo or backed by a 3-piece rhythm section.
As an alumnus of Wilfrid Laurier University, Showdra has been featured as a soloist in many ensembles associated with Wilfrid Laurier University including the Wind Orchestra, the Jazz Ensemble, and the Laurier Guitar Trio. In 2018, Showdra was asked to play Banjo with NYO Canada during their Migrations tour. Additionally, Showdra has been featured on a number of recordings by Acoustic Dirt, the Aneeq Kalson Band, and Controversial Sharks.
